That is something that I never thought I would be saying, since I spent a good 10 years or so doing everything in my power to avoid oily skin. As a youngster (ages 13-18) I was plagued with incredibly greasy, acne prone skin. I used to reach for products that contained salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, thinking that they were the best ingredients for my slick skin.
Now, some of my absolute favourite skincare products are oil-based, and my skin has never looked better. I know that it's mainly an age thing that has rid me of my oily complexion (combined with many months on Acutane) but I am left wishing that I had been introduced to the magic of facial oils earlier in life.
Now let's focus on the point of today's post: Vitamin E Serum-in-Oil from The Body Shop.
This stuff really works an overnight miracle on my skin, without clogging pores. This "serum-in-oil" is meant to "indulge, replenish and recharge skin with moisture" - and after a few months of consistent use, I can definitely say it lives up to its claims.
After I wash my face in the evenings, I apply this all over my face and neck and then hit the hay. I wake up feeling thoroughly impressed with my plumped and revived looking skin.
Something that I love about products from The Body Shop is that they often contain high concentrations of ingredients that would be much more expensive in products by other skincare brands. The main ingredient in this oil is vitamin rich soybean which is supposed to have wonderful benefits due to its high anti-oxidant properties.
My only gripes? That this product does contain added perfume, which is can irritate sensitive skin. And makes it smell kind of funky.
But overall, this is one of the many products that has sparked my love affair with facial oils. I'd love to hear any of your favourites to add to my "I need this in my life" list.
