Current Favourite: Maybelline the Rocket Mascara

3:50 PM

I think mascara is the most simple, yet transformative product. Even if you don't wear any other make up, throwing on a bit of mascara can completely open up your eyes and make you look much more "put together."

When I find a Mascara I like, I tend to stick with it for a while. Sometimes I'll get curious to try something else and depending on the results, I'll either go back to whatever "old faithful" i'm stuck on, or switch over to my new found love.

I was using Maybelline The Falsies for about a year before I decided to give their "Rocket Volum Express" (why no 'e', Maybelline?) mascara a try. Again, my best friend Steph had told me she loved it and she is an eyelash fiend, so I went with her advice.

Initially, I didn't know how I felt about it. It is a very wet formulation and can be a bit of a mess to apply at first, so I pushed it to the back of my make-up drawer for a while and went back to the Falsies. But one day a couple months later, I had ran out of my current tube and decided to give the Rocket one more try - and it was amazing! Time had dried out the mascara a little bit, and I found it so much easier to work with, and I couldn't stop being in awe of my eyelashes!

Before and After

Now, this is my favourite mascara. It adds the perfect amount of volume and length and makes my lashes look 10x better. You can build it up for a more intense look, or just swipe on a quick coat for a more natural make-up day. It also has a plastic brush which is my favourite type, but I know some people aren't big fans!

However, I have do a couple of warnings: it can be a bitch to get off (even Bioderma won't budge it, so I use a bit of coconut oil and that seems to do the trick), you have to be careful when applying it because it can clump (wiggle wiggle wiggle that brush!), and I find it is best to purchase a new tube and open it about a month before you run out of your current one, so it has a bit of time to dry out.

What is your current favourite?
