Review: Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector

11:42 AM

I've discovered a new lip love. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector. Now, when I say I 'discovered' it, I mean it in a personal sense. I've heard hype about these puppies for quite a while. Some of my beauty blogger favs (Anna, Alix, Estee) are big fans, and I've always been itching to give them a try.

The other day I had some time to kill while waiting for a doctor's appointment and decided to do so by wandering around Shoppers Drug Mart (one of our local drug stores in Canada). This is probably one of my favourite activities (oh! the shame!) and 9/10 times I will end up leaving with something.

As I was browsing the Clarins counter, a saleslady came over and started gushing about these lip glosses. So, I decided to give in and pick one up.

I had the product on my lips before I even left the door, and I was not disappointed. I don't know if you can call them a just a 'gloss', as they are also a lip treatment. They have the lovely colourful/shiny qualities of a gloss, but are also moisterizing on the lips and not overly sticky. The lady did tell me that I would "not have any trouble with my hair sticking to these in the wind." However, I'm quite skeptical about that, as I've already have to pull my hair from the lips a couple of times.

As far as pigmentation, it is very lovely. I opted for one of the newer, brighter shades for spring (Candy Shimmer) and I never feel like I'm lacking any colour when I apply it (pictured).

Another selling factor is that these Lip Perfectors smell AMAZING. Its such a yummy, sweet scent.

I'd say one of the only downsides is the price. For $22CDN, it is definitely considered a "splurge" item. However, after owning one, I definitely think it was worth the cash.

Also - the lasting power. You need to be prepared to re-apply within the hour, but it is an enjoyable experience as the applicator sponge is easy to use.

Overall, I would give this product an 8/10! Definite repurchase.
