Worth the Hype? Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Has there ever been a product that you have always had your eye on but just haven't brought yourself to buy it? Well, this is that product for me (one of them, at least).

I'm a big fan of drugstore concealers but I've heard SO many good things about this concealer that it's always tempted me. I generally love NARS products, I even love the matte packaging that so many people complain about! So, last week during the Sephora 15% sale, I finally picked it up in the shade Vanilla.

I suffer from very bad dark circles, so I was hoping that the light reflecting properties would do a good job at hiding them. I've heard a lot of beauty mavens discuss using this as an all purpose concealer, both for undereye and blemishes - so I wanted to put that method to the test on my skin.

First impressions: It is definitely worthy of its "creamy" name, however it is a thicker consistency than I imagined (I thought it would feel a bit more like the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer than it does.) This thicker consistency provides for a better coverage than the Rimmel one, but made it a bit harder to blend into the skin.

As you can see, it does a fairly good job at convering up the purple/blue undertones of my eyes. However, it is a bit more yellow toned than I thought it would be, making it not an ideal match for my very pink-based skin. It took a bit of blending to make it work, but I quite liked the final result of the "undereye" test. However, I did add a little bit of the Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer in my inner corner to brighten things up.
Next, I tried it on this unfortunate pimple that popped up this morning (weh). Furthest left is without any concealer, centre is with one layer of concealer, and further right is with two layers of the concealer. As you can see, it did a pretty good job of covering up the redness and making the blemish less noticable, but it definitely didn't have as good as coverage as some other concealers do (i.e. MAC Pro-Longwear)

This was the final result! I didn't wear any other "base" product than the concealer.

Conclusion: Overall, I think this is a good concealer. Is it amazing and as worth the hype as everybody says? I don't know. Well, at least not for my skin. It took me a bit of work to make it "work", and for $32 CDN I don't know if it's completely worth the money. I'll definitely be using this up, as it is quite lovely, but I'm not sure if I'll be making the purchase again.
