Rimmel Eyeshadow Palette in 'Brick Lane' - Womp, Womp, Womp

10:50 PM

Don't you hate when a product just doesn't live up to expectations?

I always have my eye out for neutral palettes at the drugstore, hoping to find my next "go-to" eyeshadows for a quarter of the price of something from Sephora.

I was excited when I saw this palette of five shadows at my local grocery store. The palette looked beautiful and perfect for the holiday season. For $9, I decided to pick it up.

Sadly, these shadows let me down. Although they make look lovely, the formula just didn't seem to work. They lack pigmentation - applying more as a sheer wash of glitter instead of the rich colour they appear.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rimmel products- they are some of my favourites -but this product did not live up to expectations.

The formula of shades 2, 4 and 5 is dry and powdery, making them difficult to blend. When applied on the lid, it's difficult to distinguish the difference between these shades. All you can really see is glitter.

Shade 1 is the only matte shadow the palette, although the fallout from all of the other shadows make it difficult to keep matte. It's an okay colour for a smokier eye, but again, lacks pigmentation.

They one saving grace of the palette is the bronze shade in the centre (shade 3). It's the "creamiest" and most pigmented shadow of the bunch.

If I knew what I know now, I would have passed on this. So save your pennies! I'd recommend picking up the Comfort Zone palette by Wet N' Wild for much better quality shadows for even less money.
