A Skincare Savior

7:09 PM

I've had quite the tumultuous relationship with my skin for many years. Between mild acne, cystic acne, dryness, redness, bumpiness - it's been a rough ride. I feel like I'm the inspiration for the term "combination skin." That is why I get so excited when I find a skincare product that actually works.

In my June Topbox I received the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid. After reading the back of the sample-sized bottle, I rolled my eyes. I had seen all of the claims on the package many times before, so I didn't take them too seriously. I had actually never heard much about Paula's Choice or this product before, so I didn't give it much thought.

I'm not quite sure what made me decide to put this on my bathroom counter, but for some weird reason I did. I started using it before bedtime, not thinking much of it. I shook a little bit out onto a cotton pad and did a quick swipe over my face before applying my moisturizer. Within a couple of days, I started seeing noticeable changes to my skin. The little bumps on my forehead seemed to calm down, my redness wasn't as red, and my skin just looked healthier - or even glowing, dare I say.

I've seen gradual success with many skincare products before, but nothing as instant as this!

I know it's hard to see with this bad bathroom lighting, but there really was quite the difference!
How it works (according to the Paula's Choice website):

Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant rapidly exfoliates both the skin's surface and inside the pore, reshaping the pore lining, unclogging pores and improving skin cell turnover rate. The result is a dramatic improvement in the skin's appearance, feel, and function which leads to healthier skin. There is a great deal of research indicating that BHA (beta hydroxy acid) increases collagen production and drastically smooths the surface of skin. Additionally, BHA has antibacterial properties that attack blemish-causing bacteria. The lightweight, non-occlusive formula allows for a faster and deeper exfoliation rate than our gel or lotion BHA products, so it's an ideal choice for stubborn clogged pores or blackheads.

This product is 100% fragrance- and colorant-free with a pH range of 3.2-3.8. Every Paula's Choice BHA product is formulated with additional soothing agents.

I'm no dermatologist, but I definitely think that Paula's Choice scientists are doing something right with this product. If you have troubled skin (whether it's acne, milia, blackheads, redness) and are looking for a new product to try, I'd definitely consider this! I can't guarantee you'll have the same results, but I sure hope you do. Make sure you follow with a moisturizer and SPF!

  1. I've been using this lately as well and I also really like it! They have a spot treatment in their acne line that his been really helping zap spots for me too. If I catch them before they get big they go right away
