A Summer Flush

10:48 PM

It's always been strange to me how hues of makeup so naturally change with the seasons. I know that a lot of this is driven by the "beauty trend world" - but before I was even a part of that world, I always had an innate tendency to wear different shades at different times of the year.

For example, I never ever reach for a dark red lip in summer. Is there anything wrong with wearing a dark red lip in the summer? No - not at all! But it's just not what comes natural. It doesn't have that summer "feel" to me.

I know this may sound a bit weird (cause hey! I'm definitely weird) - But when it comes to this I think many people feel the same way.

Coral, for example, has always screamed summer. Same goes for rosy pinks. As warm weather approaches, these shades naturally appear in the greenery outside, so I tend to reach for them more and more.

Here are the summery cheek products I've been grabbing for lately:

Products:

ELF Blush in "Tickled Pink" - I'm not normally a huge fan of the ELF studio blushes, but this shade is quite lovely. It's not filled with all the big chunks of glitter that normally occupy their blushes, but still adds a nice glow to my pale skin.

Milani Baked Blush in "Dolce Pink" - I know that Luminoso is the usual must-have blush from this collection, but I'm equally in love with this luminous pink blush with tiny gold reflects. Don't worry, I know it looks super shimmery, but it's not overwhelming!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in "Blissful" - I often forget I own this lovely coral/pinky blush, but as soon as the sun comes out, so does this! I love how long-wearing these blushes are through heat and humidity.

Nars Blush in "Torrid" - This is my go-to "oh I have a bit of a tan, yay!" blush. I find it suits me best when I already look a little sun-kissed. I think this would look so lovely on all different skin tones.

Revlon Highlighting Palette in "Rose Glow" - If you can deal with a bit of shimmer, this is a great drugstore option for a summer highlight. It also multi-tasks as a blush for those who are quite pale.

Even Charlie wants in on the blush action.
