I am easily intrigued.
One thing I find particularly interesting is the capitalist culture in which we live. Now, I know I buy into all of the commercialism and ya-da-ya-da (come on, I write a freakin' makeup blog!), but it doesn't mean that I don't get weirded out by the fact that our world is managed by a few key corporations and individuals.
When I first became interested in makeup, I would hear people mentioning that certain brands were "sister brands" or owned by the same company, therefore some of their products have a tendency to be similar. For example: the YSL Glossy Stains vs. the L'Oreal Lip Colour Extraordinaire glosses.
This intrigued me, and I wanted to find out exactly how many beauty brands are co-parented. So, after doing quite a bit of research, I have compiled a "makeup family tree" of sorts. I discovered that some brands I never suspected to be related, are in fact related and more than likely manufactured at the same place.
It's quite crazy how this stuff works!
Just a couple of things to note before reading on:
- I researched to the best of my ability, but please don't blame me if you find an error! I tried my best, but I know the business world changes frequently!
- Also, many of these companies also own other brands (skincare, clothing, food, etc...) but I focused on the consumer cosmetic brands.
- This is all publicly available info, so not stealing anything from anywhere :)
