Current Top Drawer Makeup

5:59 PM

If I'm being completely honest, there are many days that makeup doesn't even touch my face. There was a period a few months back that I probably went two full months without wearing any at all. But now that I'm back in the swing of applying makeup on the daily, there are a few items that I find myself reaching for every. single. day. Some are old faithfuls, some are new discoveries. Read on to find out why this combination of high end and drugstore finds have made their way into my "go-to" every day makeup (v important stuff here, guys).

1. L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara: Read more about this new darling of the mascara world in my last post!

2. L'Oreal Paris Brow Artiste Brow Plumper in 'Medium to Dark': I first started using this brow gel a couple of years ago. I was a huge fan of Benefit's Gimme Brow, but went through it too fast for how expensive it is, so I wanted to find a drugstore alternative. While this formula is a bit more liquidy than Gimmie Brow, it provides just enough colour, volume and hold to make it a great everyday brow product.

3. Anastasia Brow Wiz in 'Taupe': To be honest, I have been using this product out of laziness. I bought it a couple of months ago, and then discovered the life changing magic of brow tinting (sorry, Marie Kondo), so the shade is now a little too light for me, but I'm trying to use it up. It's a good brow pencil if you want to create fine, hair-like strokes, for a natural looking brow. They also have a great shade selection, which are pretty true-to-color (aka their taupe colour doesn't end up making me look like I've drawn on my face with an orange market).

4. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in 'Vanilla': No matter how many different concealers I try, I always end up reverting back to this cult classic. Although its super pricey, I haven't been able to find another concealer that seamlessly hides dark circles in the way this one does. Although, I've yet to try Tarte's Shape Tape. Nars is trembling.

5. Bare Minerals Original Mineral Powder Foundation in "Medium Beige": Yep. The same stuff that was sold in infomercials for many years. This is such an underrated product in the beauty world. Although it is a powder, it somehow manages to leave my skin looking radiant, without any "cake face" or irritation, making it a perfect daily foundation. Available in 31 shades!

6. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in 'paaarty': I've been using this blush pretty steadily since I received it as my "birthday gift" from Sephora back in May. While it looks kind of blah in the pan, on my pale cheeks (THE ONES ON MY FACE, GET YOUR MIND OUTTA THE GUTTER) it translates into a pretty plum/rose colour which lasts all day. It's a great blush for fair skin, but I wish Sephora had offered more colour options this year in their birthday kits, because this blush definitely won't work for everybody.

7. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in 'Park Avenue Princess': I can't even remember how I ended up owning this bronzer, but I've reached for it a lot this summer. It's super warm, so I wouldn't recommend using it to contour, but it adds a nice overall bronze glow without being too Oompa Loompa.
